How To Survive Monday

Monday. The beginning of a new week. An entire, school (or work) filled week. Sounds delightful, doesn't it? I know I'm not the only one who goes to bed on a Sunday night and gets sad at the dreadful day that awaits. I don't know what it is about Mondays, but it could be the nicest day outside and people will still complain about how bad Mondays are. Try some of these tips to get through this annoying day!

Play your favorite song when you're driving in the morning. Hearing your "happy song" is only going to make you happy, right? Try plugging in your phone to your speakers and playing that song. I did it this morning with Style by Taylor Swift. Singing along to your fave song will get you in a good mood, and hopefully it sticks throughout the day!

Eat breakfast. It doesn't have to be a gourmet breakfast either. Grab a granola bar on your way to class, or pick up a cup of coffee with a muffin. Having breakfast will help you feel energized throughout the day, which will help you be more focused and less tired all day. Click here for some healthy breakfast ideas!

Look good. I'm all for looking slobbish when I go to class. In fact, I rarely ever go to class in anything other than leggings and a t-shirt. But, Mondays call for something else. You know what they say, "look good, feel good, do good." Instead of rolling out of bed five minutes before you have to be out of the house, try waking up 20 minutes earlier. Maybe have an outfit set up the night before. Brush your hair and wear cute shoes. If you already know your Monday is going to be lame, you might as well look good. You never know, it might make your day that much better!

Exercise. Bad day? Let off your steam at the gym instead of locking yourself in your room and watching Netflix. You can do that after you work out. Trust me, working out when you've had a bad day really does make you feel a little better. Put on your cutest workout clothes (or muscle tee if you're a dude) and go run a little. Put on your headphones and listen to your gym playlist and before you know it, you'll feel a lot better. Remember to eat some protein or carbs before working out!

Talk to people. I'm the first person to sit alone in class and ignore everything with a pulse that walks my way. Fine, I get it. We don't all like being social at school. While you're walking across campus from building to building, pick up your phone and call someone. Maybe your best friend who you haven't talked to in a few days. Maybe your mom or dad, they love hearing about how your day is going. Instead of being quiet all day, constantly reminding yourself how much Mondays suck, just talk to someone and distract yourself. You may have the funniest conversation and be laughing all day, or you may get some great news. You'll never know if you're quiet all day!

There are so many other things you can do to make this disgusting day a little less disgusting. Pick anything that gets you in a good mood, and make some time for it today. There's no need to be in a bad mood just because it's Monday. It's the start of a new week, which means Friday is just that much closer. If you get through today in a good mood, chances are you'll get through the week in a good mood. Study for any exams you have so your mood doesn't get ruined mid-week.

Happy Monday,

NG
