7 Types of Friends We All Have

You know your friend who's constantly eating, but doesn't gain a pound? Or how about the one friend who hangs out at your house when you aren't home? Most people have at least one of these types of friends. They're just so hard to avoid in life. And trust me, if you haven't really met someone like this yet, you most definitely will.

The skinny friend who should weigh over 300 pounds. Don't even try to hide it. We all have one friend who eats 10 meals a day and looks like an Olympic gold medalist. How do you have a six pack if you eat so much? I eat  unsalted almonds as a snack and struggle to have a flat stomach. Share you genes!

The house warmer. You know, your friend that sends you a selfie at your house while you aren't home. I don't know about you, but I'm about to give my friends a house key by the amounts of times they go over while I'm not there. It'll save my parents a few trips of opening the door.

The loud one. You always know they're in the room because their voice is so, so loud. And they also use the same phrases over and over again. As obnoxious as they could get, you always miss their voice when it's been too long.

The boyfriend/girlfriend obsessed friend. It's ok. People go through obsessive phases... I was once obsessed with the Jonas Brothers, this friend is still obsessed with their long time significant other. They may not even think they're obsessed, that's the scary part.

The family member. Whether it be your brother, sister, mom, or dad, we all have a family member we consider a friend. While most prevalent among siblings, only children tend to have extremely close, friendly relationships with one of their parents (from what I've experienced).

The 'long time no talk'-er. Friends like these are my favorite. You can go weeks, even months without seeing them or talking to them, and the moment you do, nothing has changed. They still listen when you need them too, and they still make you pee in your pants from laughter when you finally catch up.

The party friend. This friend isn't necessarily going to give you advice when you're crying at 3 a.m., but they're most definitely always down to go to a different club at 3 a.m. Your party friend is always good to have around on nights when you can't seem to find anyone to go out with (especially if it's a Tuesday... Who goes out on Tuesdays?). Plus side: they always seem to know someone who knows someone who gets you in for free. (Free is a college student's favorite word, especially when cover is over $10.)

There are so many more types of friends; the list would go on and on. No matter how annoying some of these friends could get (especially the one who doesn't gain weight while you're eating celery for breakfast, lunch, and dinner), they're necessary to have around for a fun, happy life. I don't know where I'd be without my friends, and they most definitely fall into some of these categories. Feel free to send me a message with other types of friends; I can add them to the post!

Short & Sweet- Happy Friday Everyone

Finally. Friday. I love hearing that word (even though my Fridays are cursed with two classes). After a stressful first week back, the last day of the week couldn't be better. Unlike the past four days, there is not a cloud in the sky. It's a nice 60 degrees outside and I couldn't be happier about that. I also decided not to dress like a hobo to class today, which is a big step for me. I'm also excited because today is my Bid Day! For those of you who don't know what that is, it's basically when sororities welcome their new members into their chapter. I am so lucky to have found my place with the ladies of Delta Delta Delta. I cannot wait to see what new experiences they will be apart of throughout my college experience. And to make today even better, I have the exciting thought of my road trip to Gainesville tomorrow!

I hope you are all having as good of a day as I am. If you're not, then try and do something to make it a good day. Listening to Beautiful Day by U2 always helps lighten my mood if I'm down, and it also makes my already-good days even better. I hope everyone has a safe and fun long weekend. Rest if you need it, and party if you need it.

Have a beautiful rest of the day,

NG

Black Is The New Black

Throughout the past few months, I really have come to notice my liking of the color black. Something about a black wardrobe intrigues me. Every time I go shopping, I come home with bags filled with black, white, and grey clothing (sometimes it's without notice). There's something in the simplicity of the color black that makes it so wearable. You can't wear the same red shirt over and over again, but you most definitely can re-wear a black shirt as many times as you want. There's so much you can do to make a black shirt unique every time you wear it, which is why I love the color so much. Changing the bottom you wear, adding a printed scarf, and even layering it with other clothes are all options. You can probably wear the same plain black shirt three to four times in a row in different ways, and chances are no one around you will have a clue.

The color black also makes every outfit look that much cooler. I don't know about you, but I tend to migrate towards people dressed in sleek colors (black, white, grey) rather than colorful people. Maybe that says something about my personality... maybe not. I also get bothered when people say "_____ is the new black." No. No color on the spectrum could ever replace the powerful, yet simple color of black. (At least in my opinion.) I see 2015 as the year of black and white (of course, wherever there is black and white, there is grey). People could have so many different looks with just two colors. One day you could go for a rocker-chic look (credit to my mom for that term), while the next day rocking a simple, classy look. There are so many possibilities for style with just one color. I don't think you could ever go wrong with black clothing.

I'm sure you're concerned with how to rock black during the spring and summer seasons, and I'm not sure how to answer that. Perhaps once the "colorful" seasons arrive, fashionistas across the world will have found a way to incorporate the basic, dark color into the colorful, seasonal wardrobes. Anything is possible. As for now, I'm going to enjoy the rest of the winter season wearing my 90% black wardrobe loudly and proudly. They do say simplicity is key. And besides, black is a slimming color. Just saying.

A wise shirt once read, "Life could be colorful, but it's better if you stay true to black." Like it? find the shirt at your local Zara store on sale for only $12.99!
