Snap This

As I'm sure most of you have heard, the new SnapChat update has everyone frantically talking. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the popular app, it's a way to send selfies, videos, and messages (up to ten seconds long) without them being saved. You can also add pictures or videos to your story (also up to ten seconds long) and all your contacts can view them for up to 24 hours. The original SnapChat would display your "best friends" to all of your contacts. As most of you would assume, your "best friends" are the top three people you would snap the most.

Since SnapChat has been around, many people have blamed this feature for causing problems within their relationships. Jealous girlfriends (and boyfriends) would notice someone's name on their significant other's best friend list, and be forced to think the worst of what that could mean. With the new update, SnapChat has done away with that feature, and it seems to be causing some mayhem.

If you're someone who relied on SnapChat best friends to check up on your significant other, then I suggest you call it quits on your relationship, or it's time to have a serious talk. What's the point of being with someone if you have to meticulously stalk their every move? Shouldn't you be able to trust the person you "love"? If you really need to check on someone's best friends for security, then I think you should really bring it to their attention. Being able to communicate with someone you're in a relationship with is one of the most important things in having a healthy relationship.

My advice to anyone who's feeling iffy about this new update is to talk to their boyfriend (or girlfriend). If there was nothing going on, then you wouldn't care about this update. If you started nervously sweating when you heard about this, then I think it's time you have a serious conversation. And if you know you're doing something wrong in your relationship (especially with the help of SnapChat), get out. Save a bunch of people the trouble and heartache, and go do your own thing. There's no point in wasting your time (and your partner's time for that matter) if you aren't 100% in it. Most of us are young; why waste our time in a pointless relationship that has no trust? That doesn't sound smart in my opinion.

Happy Snapping,
